Historic courthouse recieves grant for renovations

The City of Onaway recieved $200,350 to help restore the historic courthouse building. A grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, through the federal Community Development Block Grant program, will provide funds for the 90-year-old structure.

Onaway city manager Joe Hefele announced the grant at a special gathering at the courthouse attended by city, local, and state elected officials.

State Sen. Jason Allen (R. -Traverse City). said the historical building is a piece of local history and is too unique not to restore.
