Fast response from Millersburg Fire Department

Millersburg Fire Department quickly responded to a structure and grass fire, late in the afternoon of Thursday, March 27. The blaze was off of 638 Highway and Smith Road, close to Wildcat Corner.

Fire destroyed a small unoccupied cabin, ignited the surrounding grass and set some brush ablaze. The cabin was nestled among trees on the edge of a field.

?I was looking out my kitchen window and saw smoke, then flames and called the fire department,? said Marteen Eldred.

?Onaway Fire Department was called to the scene, but called off when Millersburg Fire Department had the blaze under control within five minutes,? said Allen Pardike, firefighter.

Greg Main, from the Case Township Fire Department. and the Department of Natural Resources was among those fighting the fire.

?The fire is still under investigation,? said Pardike.
