Posen opens track season at AuGres Invitational

The Posen Vikings traveled south to find AuGres track facilities in usable condition for the AuGres Invitational Friday while many schools remain as yet unstarted for the season. Posen placed fifth for the girls and seventh for the boys in a field of seven teams.

In the girls? events, Lincoln-Alcona was first (138), Fairview (123), Mio-AuSable (108), AuGres-Sims (91), Posen (16), Hale (10), and Hillman (4). Jackie Szczerowski placed in four events including high jump, third place (4?4?); 100m hurdles, fifth (18.94); 300m low hurdles, fifth (55.59). The relay team of Kendra Krajniak, Szczerowski, Amanda Swan, and Jill Krajniak was fourth in the 3200m relay (11:50.63) with the first three teams breaking the meet record. Mio took first place (11:07.93), Fairview second (11:12.90) and Lincoln-Alcona third (11:18.61).

Swan was sixth in the 1600m run (7:31) and Kendra Krajniak was sixth in the 400m run ((1:14). In the boys? events, Fairview placed first (123.83), followed by AuGres (98), Mio (88), Lincoln-Alcona (80.83), Hale (77.33), Hillman (15), and Posen (12). Pat Bronikowski was fourth in the long jump (18?4?) and Dale Lewandowski was fifth in the 110m hurdles (18.18), while Curtis Beach placed fifth in the 800m run (2:17).

The relay team of James Sobek, Kalin Diffin, Beach, and Paul Romel was sixth in the 3200m (9:41), and the relay team of Sobek, Ryan Misiak, Diffin, and Lewandowski finished sixth in the 400m (51.20). The Vikes will travel to Inland Lakes Tuesday for the M-65/68 meet at 4 p.m.
