Council to meet with business community

Members of the Rogers City Council are hosting an informational meeting at the Lighthouse Restaurant on Third Street, Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. It?s geared to update the business community on what?s going on in Rogers City this summer. Invitation letters were sent out to more than 150 Rogers City businesses.

Mayor Beach Hall hopes the meeting will help ?our business community take advantage of some of what will be going on in town — at least make sure that they have an opportunity to know about it.? One of the changes to a standing event will be during the Rogers City Salmon Tournament in August, when the tournament ends at 2 p.m. instead of later in the evening.

Of Friday?s meeting, Hall said, ?It?s an attempt to reach the business community at a different venue. We?ve tried Coffee with Rob and Beach. We?ve tried a couple of other meetings. So we?re going to try something before stores open and see if people respond.? Council members, as well as county commissioners, were encouraged by Hall to attend.

?If they all attend,? Hall said, ?we?ll have to find an alternative venue because the Lighthouse can?t hold that many.?
