Fairbanks caps outstanding high school career with another all state honor

The girls’ track team qualifiers, consisting of Lauren Fairbanks, Charity Lewis and Lacey Kreft, managed to nail 13 points to place 15th at the state high school Division IV meet last week.

Fairbanks competed in three events; in the 800m run she placed second (2:20.36), setting a new personal record.

In the high jump, she cleared 5′ 0″ to take fifth place.

In the 1600m event, her state mark set last year (5:09.94) broken by Laura Rolf of Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest (5:05.62). Fairbanks placed eighth (5:34.95)

Fairbanks has compiled more all state honors than anyone in Rogers City High School history. She earned all state each of her four years in high school, placing second as a freshman before winning the event as a junior.

She earned all state honors three seasons as a volleyball middle hitter, and earned all state in track four times.

She earned fourth team all state in basketball her senior year. In addition, she earned academic all state recognition four times during her high school career.

Lewis and Kreft did not qualify for the finals in their events.

Kyle Greene took third in the discus (157’0″) breaking his own personal record. Rocky DeRoque took seventh place in the 800m run (2:02.32) shaving 1.57 off his personal best.

Tony Fleming tied for seventh in the high jump with a 5’9″ effort.
