RC softball team earns academic all-state honors

Rogers City?s varsity softball team earned academic all-state recognition in honor of its 3.35 grade point average. In addition, four seniors were named to the individual academic all-state team.

Alison Schuiteman, a pitcher and rightfielder, had a GPA of 4.00 to make the squad. Pitcher Rachel Brege, with a GPA of 3.93, shortstop Renee Romel, with a GPA of 3.84, and first baseman Theresa Bellmore, at 3.62, also were on the academic all-state team.

To qualify for academic all-state, a varsity team must have a combined GPA of 3.0. Individually, a senior must have a GPA of 3.6 or better, based on the student?s cumulative GPA at the end of the first semester.

Other members of the team included Angie Asam, Megan Marx, Heather LaLonde, Lindsey Fleming, Becky Bruning, Megan Grulke, Katie Krueger, Cassy Brege, CJ Calabrese, and Ashley Fleming.
