Junior girls take 6th
The Junior Girls all-stars from Rogers City went 2-2 at the state tournament in Kalamazoo over the weekend. Their final tournament game was a 6-3 loss to Mattawan from southwest Michigan. Parents said it was a well run tournament and had nothing but great things to say about the way the girls represented themselves.
The tournament started last Friday on a winning note as Rogers City defeated Taylor on opening day. On Saturday, the girls were tagged with their first loss against West Portage, a team still unscored upon when Rogers City left on Sunday. Saturday evening, Rogers City earned a 10-6 win over Tri-Cities, before moving on to Sunday?s game with Mattawan.
The two wins earned the Junior Girls a sixth place finish among the 15 teams which qualified. They claimed the District 13 banner in an exciting series against Cheboygan a couple of weeks ago.
