Overdose results in arrest by HUNT

The overdose of a 49-year-old Alpena resident resulted in an arrest by the Huron Undercover Narcotics Team. Brian C. McQuade, 45, of Alpena was lodged in the Alpena County jail July 18 after his arrest by HUNT officers and state police troopers. McQuade, who was out on bond on two other unrelated narcotics charges that arose from two independent investigations by HUNT, was arrested again without incident.

According to D/Lt. Rick Schultz, HUNT Commander, this most recent arrest resulted in an investigation of a case where an individual almost died from an overdose of drugs. The charge, delivery of Methadone, was based upon HUNT?s investigation, which was forwarded to the Alpena County prosecutor?s office. McQuade was arrested earlier this year on a charge of manufacturing marijuana.

Schultz said McQuade is no stranger to the criminal justice system or law enforcement. ?(He) has been around the block a few times,? Schultz said. ?We consider McQuade a habitual offender, with five prior convictions.? McQuade remained jailed after a judge set his bond at $100,000 cash or surety.
