Popular swimming program has a waiting list

Registration for the city-funded 4-H/MSU Extension swim program has been outstanding, said Rogers City manager John Bruning. More than 80 people signed up, with 15 left on a waiting list. ?It seems to be very popular,? he said. ?I asked if there was any way to accommodate any additional people, and at this time, it doesn?t look like it.?

Amy Penny, program coordinator, initially established six classes and added three more, but it still wasn?t enough. The program will be monitored to anticipate future needs, Bruning said.

?At this point it?s new, we don?t know where we?re at with funding,? Bruning told city council Monday. ?But it?s certainly something we should look at. It hasn?t been offered in some time.?

?It?s one of the best things going in this community,? said councilman Jim Sinclair.
