SHERIFF’S REPORT

A Colorado man was treated and released at Alpena General Hospital after a two-vehicle head-on crash at the intersection of US-23 and Grand Lake Highway last Friday at 4:05 p.m. Jeremy James Warren, 26, of Frisco was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Lesha Lynn Carle, 50, of Tawas City.

Carle was traveling southeast on US-23 and told an investigating deputy she had no time to react when a vehicle attempted a left turn in front of her. William Harold Cook, 75, of Presque Isle was attempting the turn onto Grand Lake Highway but told the officer he didn?t see the other vehicle. A second passenger in the Carle vehicle, a one-year-old from Alpena, as well as Carle and Cook, received minor injuries. All four occupants were wearing safety restraints. Allied Ambulance of Rogers City transported Warren to AGH for further treatment. Both vehicles were undriveable. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident. Cook was cited in the crash.

A breaking and entering of the Onaway Assembly of God on M-33 was reported last Thursday. It was discovered and reported to the sheriff?s department just before 4 p.m. A window was found open on the west side of the building, but a search of the premises found nothing missing.

Three teenagers from Onaway have confessed to the breaking and entering of a pop machine at the Onaway Area Schools building. High school principal Matt Lukshaitis called

to report the missing beverage containers last Thursday at 8:15 a.m.

A deputy investigated and identified the suspects, who apparently took a couple of dozen pop cans and other drinks from the machine and may be involved in thefts in Rogers City. Reports are still being completed.

A Posen man was not injured when the vehicle he was driving impacted construction equipment August 19 at 1:30 p.m. on US-23, just north of Petersville Road. John L. Leonard, 88, of Posen was traveling southbound on US-23 when his vehicle hit a construction road sweeper cleaning the shoulder of the road.

The force of the rear-end collision activated the airbag and the vehicle was undriveable. The driver was wearing his shoulder and lap belt, according to the accident report. No citations were issued.
