Sheriff?s report

A drunk driving arrest in Alcona County early Saturday morning resulted in the recovery of a road sign that may have been stolen in Presque Isle County. An Alcona County sheriff?s deputy apprehended the drunk driver and noticed the ?Circle Drive? sign in the vehicle. The sign was to be returned to the PI Road Commission.

A five-month investigation has led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Posen teen on a charge of accosting a child. Detective Steve Porter investigated the alleged March incident, which occurred in Posen and involved a male victim under the age of 16, according to the warrant that was authorized by the prosecutor?s office. The crime is a four-year felony. She was booked at the sheriff?s department September 26.

Three Onaway suspects have been identified as being involved in the theft of $100 in returnable cans from the M-211 Bar. A 911 call, reporting the theft, was made at 5:40 p.m. Thursday. Based on other media reports involving the theft of returnables at an Indian River party store, officers were able to generate suspects in the case. Reports are completed and were to be forwarded to the prosecutor for warrant consideration.

Officers attempted to make contact with the driver of a vehicle who illegally passed an Onaway Area Schools bus at 8:26 a.m. last Thursday. The bus driver reported the vehicle as being a 1991 Ford Explorer and also called in the license plate number. The registered owner?s home was checked minutes later, but initial attempts to talk with the driver, failed.
