Masked robbers steal Oxycontin from M-33 residence

Two suspects, armed with an assault rifle and a semi-automatic handgun, forced their way into a family residence late Sunday night in Allis Township and stole an undisclosed amount of money, a handgun, and the prescription pain-killer Oxycontin.

According to a press release from the Presque Isle County Sheriff?s Department, two men wearing masks forced their way into the South M-33 Highway residence. The subjects entered the home, took the items from the residence and were seen leaving in a white-colored full size van. There were no reported injuries. PI Central dispatch received the call of the incident at 11:34 p.m.

The release states that the suspect

s were after Oxycontin. Huron Undercover Narcotics Team commander D/Lt. Rick Schultz said it?s typical of a trend that the area is starting to experience. ?There?s a bunch of linkages here,? Schultz said. ?Drugs just don?t effect the drug user, it effects those in the outlying areas.

?Then you get involved with property crimes and crimes against persons. It?s just a continuing pattern.? The descriptions of the suspects were similar. Both are believed to be 25 to 30, measuring five-foot eight, and weighing about 160 pounds. Subjects were wearing dark clothing and were described as having poor dental conditions.

The sheriff?s department received assistance from troopers from the Michigan State Police from Cheboygan and Gaylord. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff?s department at 1-800-734-2156, or to contact any local police agency.
