Sheriff?s report week 50

Officers are investigating a rash of malicious destruction of property and larceny complaints in Rogers Township. Christmas decorations were damaged or came up missing on Huron Shore Road, US-23, and Meredith Road, as well as Nagel Highway over the weekend. An inflatable snowman was reported missing and later found to have been burned by subject(s) in one incident, while a reindeer at a Nagel Highway residence was thrown into the woods at another location. At one home, which annually displays many lights and Christmas decorations on US-23, a decorative soldier was found in a ditch. Most of the reports were received on December 6. There are no suspects.

An officer took a report of a breaking and entering at the Parker House Restaurant Friday at 8 p.m. in Presque Isle Township. Information on the missing items was taken and a suspect in Alpena County was being investigated.

A 16-year-old female shoplifter was referred to a juvenile officer after attempting to steal Chapstick from Cart

er?s Food Center in Onaway. After officers could not locate family members, she was transported to Rogers City.

An 18-year-old Posen male was arrested for reckless December 3 after being caught on radar going double the legal speed limit. A deputy patrolling the area recorded Josh Rose traveling at 101 m.p.h. in a 45 m.p.h. zone. The officer located Rose at the BP Gas Station in Posen. He told the officer he was running late for work. Rose was booked at the county jail at 5:25 p.m. and will have to appear in 89th District Court on the charge at a future date.

There were no reported injuries from a two-vehicle accident on State Street December 1 at 2:05 p.m. in downtown Posen According to the traffic crash report, Laurie Lynn Swayne, 45, of Alpena was leaving a private drive on the east side of State Street. Swayne told an officer she was unable to see northbound traffic due to parked cars in front of the bank. Swayne pulled directly into the path of a northbound vehicle driven by Marvin Karl Deletka, 43, of Hawks, who was unable to stop in time. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
