?Grease, The Rogers City Version? looking for talent

The Rogers City High School Drama Club, under the direction of Bryan Mills, will be conducting auditions in search of adult actors to fill the roles of the spoof musical ?Grease, The Rogers City Version.?

If you saw the ?Wizard of Oz, the Rogers City Version,? four years ago, you know that anything in a ?Rogers City Version? production will be a spoof of the original.

The play was adapted and written by people who don?t really want to be known and who will only include their initials of C.R., T.R., M.M. A.M., M.M., B.M., M.W., L.L. and T.L.

The original play was adapted from the musical to fit the community of Rogers City with the setting taking place at the Nautical Festival tent 30 years after the characters graduated from Rogers City High instead of ?Rydell High.?

All of the main characters, (Sandy, Danny, Doody, Kenickie, Patty, Frenchy, Marty, Sonny, and more) return to Rogers City to tell about their adventures and reunite.

THE CHARACTERS will be singing different comical lyrics that fit the town of Rogers City to the tunes of ?Summer Nights,? ?Beauty School Dropout,? :Greased Lightnin?, ? ?Mooning,? ?Born To Hand Jive,? and ?We Go Together.?

This is a play for adults in the community who want to try out their acting, singing, and dancing skills, whether good or bad. No need to worry about not getting a part, because every adult who tries out will get one, even if the scriptwriters have to write one for you.

Heather Pines, a local resident who has received her degree in Theater from Northern Michigan University, will direct the show along with Megan Marx, a senior drama and vocal student.

ALL PROCEEDS from the show will go to support Voices In Harmony and their trip to perform at Disney World.

Audition materials will be available from the school office Monday, January 5 for checko

ut prior to the auditions, which will be conducted Tuesday, January 13 and Thursday, January 15 at 7 p.m. at the Rogers City High School Little Theater (room 58B).

The play is scheduled the second and third weekends in February at the Rogers City Theater on Third Street. Theater owner Karl Heidemann has promised to have his newly constructed stage completed in time for the performances.

If you?d like to be one of the very first performers to grace the stage at the Rogers City Theater, while hamming it up and making history at the same time, you are encouraged to ?come on down? to the auditions, January 13 and 15.
