SHERIFF’S REPORT—Jan. 8
Sheriff?s report 02-04 Three suspects have been identified as being involved in a rash of malicious destruction of property and larceny complaints in Rogers Township in early December. Christmas decorations were damaged or came up missing on Huron Shore Road, US-23, and Meredith Road, as well as Nagel Highway, on the night of December 5 or on the morning of December 6. Acting on a tip, sheriff?s deputies interviewed suspects who confessed to the incidents. Warrants were authorized and an arrest was made of a 17-year old male suspect from Rogers City on December 31.
The 17-year-old was booked on a 10-count warrant for allegedly damaging eight homes. His arraignment date is Monday at 10 a.m. The other two suspects, 15- and 16-year-old males of Rogers City, are expected to be petitioned into probate court.
In the incidents, an inflatable snowman was reported missing and later found to have cigarette burn holes. Light-up reindeer were taken from a home on Nagel Highway and thrown into a wooded area, while light-up soldiers were stolen from a US-23 house that annually displays many Christmas decorations.
All the property has been recovered, according to a spokesman from the sheriff?s department.
