Millersburg man injured after being struck by truck

A 76-year-old Millersburg man remains hospitalized in Petoskey in serious condition after being struck by a snowplow truck Friday in Millersburg. The Presque Isle County Sheriff?s Department responded to the accident at 10:24 a.m. According to a witness, a pickup truck operated by Corey John McGinn, 39, of Millersburg was plowing snow when McGinn backed from a private drive into Edward Leroy Bozynski, who was walking along Millersburg Road.

The witness said McGinn wasn?t traveling fast, but couldn?t see Bozynski because of a blind spot created by a salt box attached to the back of the truck. Bozynski was bumped by the salt box, which knocked him to the ground. The truck continued, backing up over the victim. Witness John Anderson of Ocqueoc saw the incident from his vehicle and yelled to Bozynski, which he believes prevented further injury, if not death. Bozynski was transported by Onaway Ambulance to Cheboygan Memorial Hospital where he was later transferred to Northern Michigan Hospital.

?The witness states he saw everything and believes both people are at fault,? the sheriff?s department accident report states.

The Michigan State Police and Case Township First Responders assisted deputies at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
