Few candidates filing for area school boards

Monday is the deadline to file nominating petitions for school board posts to be filled in the June 14 annual election. Boards of Education candidates in the Rogers City Area Schools and the Posen Consolidated Schools have until 4 p.m. Monday to submit nominating petitions.

In Rogers City, the terms of Patty Pike and Dana LaBar expire June 30. As of Tuesday morning, Pike, who is completing her first term in office, was the only candidate to file petitions. Two candidates, Allan Smolinski and Armand Loiselle, picked up petitions this week in an attempt to get their names on the ballot. LaBar, who has served two four year terms, has decided to not seek re-election.
