Posen competes at Division 4, Region 31 Regionals at Bellaire

The Posen track team will send a girl to the state finals, as Amanda Pieczynski qualified at the regionals in Bellaire by taking first in 100-dash (12.94) and the 200-dash (27.36) and second place in the 400-dash (1:02.70) in personal record time. Pieczynski, a sophomore will represent the Vikings at the state finals June 5 in Grand Rapids. The girls? team placed sixth at the regionals with Maple City Glen Lake first with 119 1/2 points and Posen with 28.

In the boys? events, Traverse City St. Francis was first with 96 and Posen 11th with four points. James Sobek took fifth in the 400-dash (55.14) and sixth in the 200-dash (24.81), a new PR, while Aaron Hincka placed sixth in discus (124? 6?), also a PR.

THE 9/10 Fairview Track Meet results had Alcona boys in first place with 181 points and Posen fifth with 15. The girls? results had Fairview first with 170 points and Posen third with 54. In the girls? events, Pieczynski continued to shine, taking no less than three first place finishes, in the 100-dash (13.10), the 400-dash (1:07.90) and the 200-dash (26.89), a PR for Amanda. ed good results, taking third place and new PR in the 800-meter (2:02.95) with Rachel Beach, Jill Krajniak, Megan Pieczynski, and Amanda Pieczynski, while Beach, Krajniak, Megan Pieczynski, and Brittany Chojnacki took third in the 1600-relay (5:29.80).

Beach was fourth in the 800-run (3:16.29), Megan Pieczynski was fifth in the shot put (21? 8?), Amanda Novak was sixth in the shot (21? 6?) and Chojnacki took sixth in the 300-hurdles (1:13.41). In the boys? events, Apollo Schuch was third in the 300-hurdles with his PR time of 47.78, fifth in the 100-dash (13.19), and fifth in the 200-dash (26.62), yet another PR.

Joe Darga placed fourth in the long jump (16? 4?) and was sixth in the shot put (27? 11?). Thursday (today) the Vikings will travel to the North Star League Championships in AuGres followed by the Meet of Champions Monday at Fairview preceding the state finals June 5.
