Cooker ignites garage

The Rogers City Fire Department responded to a fire Sunday at 541 West Third Street at 5:26 p.m. when a gas cooker caught fire and set an adjacent garage on fire.

Firefighters put out the cooker fire with a fire extinguisher and used 250 gallons of water to take care of the garage fire. Both fires were put out within and hour by the 17 firefighters who responded. The scene was cleared at 6:15 p.m.
