“Stories from 125 Years,” a special edition commemorating the 125th anniversary of the Advance, took first place in the “Special Section” category. The judges said “a lot of dedicated staff members worked hard to put out this section. It is full of information, photos, and history. It should be a keeper for everyone who received it.”

Former Advance staffer Gail Maggi’s sunrise photo took first in the “Feature Photo” category. The judges said it made them forget about the cold Michigan morning. Advance editor Richard Lamb earned third place in “Sports Photography.” The entire staff shared the honor for third place in “Sports Coverage,” where the judges praised the complete coverage of both boys’ and girls sports. The staff also shared in an honorable mention for “Design”.
