Hurons resume schedule in UP

The Huron wrestlers will look to improve on their 7-2 dual record when they travel tonight to Rudyard. It will be Rogers City’s first action since the Hurons ended the 2004 portion of their schedule with a respectable fifth place (tops among Division IV schools) finish at the Marquette Challenge. In addition to squaring off with the host school tonight, the Hurons will do battle with St. Ignace, the defending regional champs.

Saturday begins a month’s worth of competitive weekend tournaments that should go a long way to strengthening the team for the tournament run in late February. First stop is Saturday at the New Lothrop Invitational, which will be a “real barn burner,” said coach Pat Lamb.

Next is the Bill Barrett Invitational January 15 in Rogers City. The following Saturday is the annual Ithaca Invitational, which attracts some of Michigan’s top-ranked talent. Then, January 29 is the Northern Michigan Championships at Gaylord.
