Superior Street home damaged in fire

At 8:14 a.m. Sunday, the Rogers City Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 206 East Superior Street, a home owned by William and Jenny Ganske. The department arrived at the scene at 8:18 a.m. and the fire was extinguished quickly. The department remained on the scene for overhaul and investigation until 10:08 a.m. The fire started in a bedroom in the home and was confined to that room. But there was heat and water damage to the rest of the house. The fire remains under investigation by the Rogers City Fire Department and the Rogers City Police Department.

Initial findings of the department are that a youngster was involved in the cause of the fire. Assisting at the scene were the Presque Isle County Sheriff’s Department, Allied Ambulance, and the Presque Isle County chapter of the American Red Cross. The local Red Cross provided comfort kits to the Ganskes, food and new clothing, along with stuffed animals for the children.
