Grant money sought for more improvements to Chandler Park

Onaway resident Melody McShane appeared before the Onaway City Commission Monday seeking support for the installation of more playground equipment at Chandler Park.

Understandably, with the popularity of the equipment that was placed in the park last year, there was no opposition to the new project. McShane said grant dollars would be used to purchase weather resistant picnic tables and benches, along with a six-foot high dragon for the kids to climb on. McShane said it’s “like a rock wall.”

The picnic table idea came about because people have been dragging picnic tables from the Chandler Park pavilion to have a place to sit when they watch their children play.
