RC Chamber announces coming events: By William Hanchett, chamber ex director

The Rogers City Chamber of Commerce is looking forward to a busy summer and, with your help, will try to bring lots of new visitors to Rogers City. Let your downstate family and friends know what a great place Rogers City is and invite them to the city-wide garage Sale, the Nautical Festival, and other activities in Rogers City.

The first event is the Garage Sale and RV/Vehicle Swap. Last year we had 57 garage sales and three vehicles sold. Both events will be held on June 10 and 11 and entries must be at the Chamber by June 6 to be advertised. The RV/Vehicle Swap will be at the west end of the Rogers City High School parking lot on both days also and this year, we will have financing available on site. That?s the same weekend as the Relay for Life held between the schools. The racers from the Double Handed Challenge will be arriving on June 26 and 27. Please stop by the marina and welcome them. A few have even extended their stay to become Rogers City residents.

We are planning on having the Bailey Brothers Circus in town on the first or second week in July. They will only be here for one day and two performances will be given in the big tent at the west end of the high school. More details will be coming. We will again be selling our Property Tax Raffle and Scholarship tickets durin

g the summer and the drawing for a winner will be held the last Day of the Nautical City Festival. The prize is equal to your 2004 property taxes, up to a maximum of $1,500. The proceeds also fund a $500 scholarship to a Rogers City college-bound business student. The Nautical City Festival is August 2-7 this year and most of the craft booths are already filled. Our Fall Fest in Westminster Park is September 17. We had great participation last year and some of the vendors say it?s their favorite show. We hope it will be one of yours also. We are scheduling warm weather and sunshine again so plan on attending.

Greg Frost has taken the position of Marketing Director for the Chamber of Commerce. He will be coming out to meet all of Rogers City?s business and professional community to invite them to be a part of the chamber. He also will explain the excellent tools we have to help you advertise your business to a greater audience at a minimal cost. The Chamber is now available as part of the Rogers City website at www.rogerscity.com. An event listing is always available at that website as is other local information.
