Graduation weekend in Posen and Rogers City
Ninety-three Posen and Rogers City high school seniors wind up their high school careers this weekend. The Posen Class of 2005 will graduate 27 students, 13 with honors, during commencement exercises to be conducted Friday at 7:30 p.m., while Rogers City has 66 seniors ready to turn their tassels Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Of the group in Rogers City, 30 will graduate with honors. In addition to the weekend events, Rogers City has Class Night Friday at 7. The history, prophecy, and giftatory are at 8:30 p.m. and are for class members only.
THE ALPENA High School jazz band will perform the processional as Posen seniors enter the high school gym, which will be followed by an invocation by the Rev. Lee Hoops of St. Peter Lutheran Church of Metz. Salutatorian Jaclyn Szczerowski and valedictorian Matthew Ponik will deliver speeches to their classmates, families, and friends. Brittany Romel will perform Kelly Clarkson?s ?Breakaway? to the gathering. After high school principal Clifford Kelly officially presents the Class of 2005, school board president Kenneth Wozniak will issue diplomas. Superintendent Dennis Stratton will end the ceremony with concluding remarks before the confetti flies and the jazz band plays the recessional. Senior class officers include Ponik, president; Adam Zdybel, vice president; Jaclyn Szczerowski, secretary; and Katie Lewandowski, treasurer.

The class colors are white and navy blue and the class flower is the tiger lily, while the class song is ?Full Circle.?
