Bears open season

3605 Bears The Rogers City Bears fifth and sixth graders opened their season August 27 against Alpena at home winning 13-12. The offense was led by Austin Brege with a 66-yard run for a touchdown and a 57-yard reception for a touchdown. Brege rushed for 112 yards on seven carries and had two catches for 80 yards.

Chad Karsten was two-of-four through the air and rushed for 28 yards on four carries. The defense was led by Jordan Karsten with eight tackles. Dylan Orr, Lance Schaedig and Colton Roeske each had five tackles. Brege had an interception and Roeske had a fumble recovery.

In week two the fifth and sixth grade Rogers City Bears traveled to Cheboygan where the Bears got the win 12-6. On the offense, Chad Karsten had 68 yards on five carries and was three-for-four through the air. He also rushed for a touchdown. Austin Brege rushed for 132 yards on 10 carries with three catches and a touchdown.

On defense, Dylan Orr and Chase Grulke led the team with seven tackles each. Mark Rhode added five and Caleb Pommerenke had an interception.
