Hurons win battle in Posen, 12-6

An eight-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Chase McLennan to wideout Justin Wilbert in the opening moments of the fourth quarter gave the Hurons a 12-6 win in Posen Friday.

In the first meeting of the schools on the gridiron since 1987, a huge crowd cheered their Vikings as they took the early lead. Jason Romel tossed a 22-yard pass to Matt Szczerowski with 6:44 left in the first quarter to give the Vikings a 6-0 lead.

The score stayed that way until Dylan Centala cut around left end for a 25-yard run with 10:06 left in the third quarter. A penalty after the play moved the ball back 15 yards, and the PAT kick sailed wide. The score was tied at 6-6 after the Hurons scored on its opening possession of the half.

The winning score came as Wilbert snared the pass from McLennan in the middle of the endzone.
