Produce, crafts, and displays featured at ?People?s Garden Fair?

The 2nd annual People?s Garden fair was conducted Saturday on Maxon Field in Onaway.

Sponsored by the Stepping Stones Garden Club, there were produce and plants, crafts for sale, along with things to see and do.

Dale V. and Charlie entertained visitors at the VFW Post while people looked at the quilts and teapots on display.

People tapped their toes and clapped their hands to the sounds of the classic country music songs performed by the band. There were quilts of every conceivable design and teapots of every shape and size.

On Maxon Field, people were buying baked goods and garden related items, as well as produce.

There was even a vendor clearing earwax from the ears of anyone interested in climbing onto a table and having Pam Noggle work her magic with a lit candle.

There was a good mix of vendors, and other vendors have expressed interest in taking part in the growing event next year, said Garden Club spokesperson Leeann Ayotte of Ona

way.

?This morning it has been great,? said Ayotte. ?The weather has cooperated. We had a lot of new vendors this year. It?s been going great and we?ve been having a lot of fun.?

Ayotte said the Garden Fair is a community event and the Stepping Stones Garden Club continues to try involve as many people as possible.

The club, which was established five years ago, has been involved in several community projects, including the planting of flowers at Chandler Park. They also have worked to beautify different areas of Onaway and have offered to landscape the grounds of the Onaway Courthouse.

Funds raised at the Garden Fair will assist the group with its community projects.
