Sportsman?s Show is coming, along with fireworks at Moran?s

The 10th annual Northeast Michigan Sportsman?s Show is just around the corner.

Always the first weekend in December, and conducted at the Onaway High School, this is an opportunity for people to do some very unique Christmas shopping for a wide variety of items.

Professional walleye champion Mark Romanack, who is a popular and well traveled outdoor sports writer in North America, will share his passion for hunting waterfowl, upland birds, turkey, deer and other big game at the event.

There also will be a roundtable discussion with whitetail experts as a plan is being developed toward a Presque Isle County voluntary deer management program.

The Hammond Bay Anglers Association also will have the trout pond set up as people can fish for money this year. The dates for this year?s event are December 2-4.

That same weekend, Moran Iron Works of Onaway will be hosting its annual holiday fireworks celebration. Santa will be handing out presents to children December 3 at 5 p.m. with the fireworks to follow soon after. There will be hot cider and cookies for everybody taking part in the event at the MIW facility one mile west of the city limits.
