Capital Consultants authorized to provide engineering services on three city projects

Capital Consultants has been hired to handle engineering work on three city projects for the City of Rogers City. Two projects are the reconstruction of two streets, while the other project is for construction of the new well house over well No. 5. Since the city does not have a fulltime engineer on staff, city manager John Bruning received several engineering proposals to present to members of the city council. Bruning said Capital Consultants has worked on several city projects in the past including the water system master plan. The proposal for engineering services for the three projects totaled just under $97,000.

COUNCIL AUTHORIZED Capital Consultants to complete the engineering of Woodward Avenue at a cost of $17,900. That includes complete reconstruction of the roadway between First Street and Calcite Road, along with curb and gutter. The well house engineering will cost $29,300. The well house will be located along Depot Street near well No. 1. Much of the funding will come from the Community Development Block Grant funds. The third project was contingent upon the city receiving block grant funding from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

Rogers City is one of 19 communities that have been asked to submit a full grant application. ?We should receive word in April,? said Bruning. Reconstruction of Larke Avenue is needed between State Street and Linden Streets. The price for engineering is $49,500. The process of designing the projects will take several months.
