City manager position whittled to 4 candidates

Thirty-one resumes were received from hopeful candidates for the Rogers City manager position, which opened up after the resignation of John Bruning, who left to work for the District 4 Health Department. Interim city manager Theresa Heinzel said resumes were given to Bill Baldridge, a consultant for the Michigan Municipal League (MML), who was hired to carry out the process of determining the best candidates for the job. Baldridge has experience as a city manager, and an interim city manager.

The 31 applicants turned into four possible candidates, all of which are not local residents. The open interviewing process will take place Thursday and Friday at city hall, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Rogers City Council will interview Mark D. Slown, David A. Thayer, Allen Lowe, and Todd Campbell over the two day period. After the last interview on Friday morning, the council will possibly designate one of the men as its lead candidate.
