Holiday Extravaganza Friday and Saturday

Coffee gatherings usually spark conversation, and conversation usually sparks ideas. Thankfully for the Rogers City area, four friends gathered for coffee and conversation two years ago and ignited an idea that would eventually attract shoppers to the area during a time of the year when shoppers become few and far between. Those four friends are happy to announce the second annual Holiday Extravaganza on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Water?s Edge Restaurant. Carol Lamb, Debbie Stiller, Darlene Skinner, and Deb Smith met for coffee one afternoon, and discovered the need to generate business in Rogers City before the upcoming major holidays.

?We got the idea over coffee, and it just grew from there,? said Lamb. ?It all just kind of fell into place. We thought it would be fun to draw people into town to buy Christmas gifts.? The Holiday Extravaganza grew into a successfully large craft show, but it didn?t just stop there. ?This is more than just a craft show,? said Stiller. ?There are various gift ideas available, and artists are coming from all over Michigan.?

Lamb said 30 crafters are scheduled to set up at The Water?s Edge for the weekend event. Artists will travel from Drummond Island, Marquette, Dearborn, Sault Ste. Marie, and Cheboygan. Local artists will also be in attendance. ?The show was so successful last year, that this year we decided to add Friday to accommodate those people who work,? said Lamb. ?This is more than just a craft show ? there will be products available for shoppers as well.? Lamb said some of the products include Mary Kay, Polish Pottery and Tastefully Simple food products. Waters Edge will highlight lunch specials during the event, and the restaurant will be open for business throughout the weekend. Admission to the Holiday Extravaganza is free to all.
