Community Thanksgiving service set for Monday

4606 community thanksgiving The Annual Presque Isle Thanksgiving Community Prayer Service will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Church Monday, November 20, at 7 p.m. This is a county gathering of people who wish to share prayer at harvest time and thank God for all their blessings. The Prayer Service will be led by several ministers of the county will the homily given by the Rev. Waldemar Gies, pastor of St. James Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran Churches in Rogers City. The service will be led in song by the accomplished Children?s Choir of St. Ignatius School under the direction of Amy Rabeau and accompanied on piano by Sarah Mulka.

The congregation will participate in several hymns and join in prayer. The Bells of Peace Bell Choir will perform three pieces within the Prayer Service. Everyone in attendance is asked to bring non-perishable items and drop them in the boxes at the door of the church. These gifts will be taken to the Presque Isle Food Pantry. During the service a collection will be taken and these monies will be available for the Ministerial Association to assist the needy.

Because of the size of the church, there is room for everyone who wishes to attend. In the past, several hundreds of people gather for prayer and then refreshments and fellowship following the service in the school gym. So encourage your neighbors and friends to join in on this annual community Thanksgiving service.
