According to superintendent Bob Szymoniak, office space would be created by the school reconfiguring existing office space. He said discussisons are preliminary and ongoing. Szymoniak said, to address this matter with the public, the Onaway Schools will host a community forum Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. in the school?s media center. Szymoniak will be on hand to answer any questions, address concerns, and collect feedback that would be used to help with the decision as to whether the school should proceed with this possibility. About 50 percent of Presque Isle County?s DHS clients are from Onaway.

News about the possible closing of the DHS office in Rogers City was revealed in late March. A few weeks later, a DHS official in Lansing promised to keep a presence in the county. No new information had been released until Wednesday morning.
