RCHS admissions prices unchanged; fall coaches approved

While other schools have decided to raise the admission price to a varsity sporting event for the 2007-08 to as much as $5, the Rogers City High School athletic department is holding the line, as prices will remain the same across the board. That includes $4 for varsity contests.

Athletic director Pat Lamb and principal Deb Jones recommended that the 2007-08 admission prices for district athletic events remain at the 2006-07 school year rate. Prices are as follows: family of three or more $12 and no charge for children six years of age or younger; junior varsity contests — $3 for everyone; family of three or more — $9 (no charge for children six years and under); junior high contests — $2 for everyone (no charge six and under). The family pass ($160) covers all family members including those in college.

The rest of the pricing structure follows: couple?s pass $135; adult pass $90; student pass $25; single senior $55; and senior couple $90 (covers two adults 65+). The fall varsity coaches are the

same as 2006, although there has been some turnover on the JV. For football, Mike Kosiara returns as the varsity coach and will be assisted by Andy Hayhoe. Chad Coolman is the JV head coach. His assistant is Cory Malocha. Deb Schuiteman and Pennie Kelly are the co-coaches for cheerleading.

For volleyball, which moves to the fall this season, Mary Fairbanks leads the varsity, while her daughter Karla Fairbanks, a former standout for Ferris State University, is the new JV head coach. Assisting the program will be Jackie Quaine and Chris Shay. The junior high coaching position was still vacant as of Monday night.

Rob Kortman returns as varsity cross country head coach. He?ll be assisted by Andy Centala and Derek McLennan.
