Freel accepted into Corp of Cadets at West Point

U.S. Rep. Bart Stupak?s only annual appointee to the military academy at West Point, Isaac S. Freel, was officially accepted into the Corps of Cadets during the acceptance parade August 18. Freel was one of roughly 1,300 cadet candidates who concluded their training with a 12-mile road march from Camp Buckner to West Point August 13. The incoming class of approximately 1,310 cadet candidates was selected from a pool of more than 10,800 applicants.

He reported to the nation?s oldest military academy July 2 to begin a grueling six-and-a-half week cadet basic training ? or Beast Barracks ? as new cadets undergo a transformation from civilian to soldier. Although Beast Barracks has been completed, the cadets must now prepare for the academic and physical challenges of their next four years.
