Hurons win in OT, 30-28

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the football game the Heart Attack Hurons did it again. Another thrilling win, this time a 30-28 overtime win over Rudyard, has the Hurons at the brink of a playoff berth.

Senior quarterback Chase McLennan, who was back at in action after an injury kept him out last week, scored the go ahead TD in overtime on a two-yard run up the middle. His pass to T.J. Sobeck in the left corner of the endzone gave the Hurons a 30-22 lead.

MeLennan stumbled after getting the snap from center Ryan Darga, then avoided a strong rush while rolling to his left. When he nearly reached the line of scrimmage, he squared and flipped a pass to Sobeck, who?s man left him to stop the possible run. A large group of fans in the north end zone at Gilpin Field roared their approval at the score. Rudyard scored on a run but senior linebacker Jerome Gapczynski?s solid tackle insured the two-pointer failed for the Bulldogs.
