PFC Michael Mierzwinski earns top honors

Marine PFC Michael Mierzwinski or Rogers City received the highest score for his platoon of 449 recruits on the physical fitness test (PFT) and is one of eight honor graduates from his recruiting class. PFC Mierzwinski scored 300 on the PFT by completing 27 pull-ups and 140 crunches in the required time and by running three miles in 18 minutes. He is part of the Third Battalion of Lima Company, Platoon 3245 from San Diego which graduated August 31.

He is on leave in Rogers City until September 17 when he is to report back to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. From there his plans are to spend 25 days at the Marine Combat Training center and then enter training for his specialty, which will be in organizational automotive mechanics. He is a 2007 graduate of Rogers City High School.
