Incumbents pile up the votes in school election

Incumbents shined in Tuesday’s election. In the Rogers City Area Schools, Armand Loiselle was the top vote getter with 237 to earn another four-year term on the board of education. The other full term went to write-in candidate Lori Dix with 175 votes.

Former transportation director William Stypick, who also was running as a write-in, garnered 41 votes. Robert Starnes III had the second most votes with 175 to win the uncontested partial term. There are three years remaining. The new terms start July 1. The millage renewal proposal in Rogers City passed by a 217-69 count. This will enable the district to levy 18 mills on non-homestead property.

In the Posen Consolidated School District there was one incumbent and three write-ins running for two, four-year terms. Incumbent Andy Stone came away with 76 votes to win re-election, while Jesse Chappa edged Carie Paull 38 to 35 to win the other seat. Jennifer Idalski was a distant fourth with seven votes. .
