Track teams travel to St. Ignace twice

The Huron track teams have had two meets in St. Ignace on the week, the first time the meet was shortened due to rain. Tuesday in St. Ignace both teams finished the tri-meet with the Saints of St. Ignace and the Blue Devils of Sault Ste. Marie in third place. The boys? team scored 38 points on the heels of four first place finishes. The two-mile relay team of T.J. Sobeck, Jerome Gapczynski, Andy Grambau and Justin LaLonde continued their winning ways taking first with a time of 8:57, a full ten second before second place Sault Ste. Marie.

Gapczynski took first in the mile with a time of 5:04.97; Sobeck was first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.88. Grambau was first in the two-mile, 11:27.48 and third in the 400-meter run, 57.97. Zak McLennan finished third in the mile, 5:30.18. LaLonde was third in the 300-meter hurdles, 49.82. Aaron Wilbert was third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.61. David Lewandowski was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.35 and Brandon Haneckow was third in the high jump with a height of 5?6?. The girls? team had just one first place finish; Anna Wickersham cleared 4?6? to win the high jump event. Rachel Lewandowski was second in the 100-meter dash, 13.68 and third in the 400-meter run, 1:09.05. Heather Luetzow was third in the 100-

meter dash, 13.7, second in the 400-meter, 1:06.84 and second in the 200-meter dash, 29.0. Jami Horn finished third in the mile with a time of 6:28.8 and Pattie Getzmeyer was second in the discus, 72?3?. Leilani Kortman was second in the 300-meter hurdles, 54.1 and third in the two-mile, 14:21.33.

FRIDAY AT St. Ignace in a meet shortened due to rain the boys? two-mile relay team notched another first place finish with a time of 8:58.37 and Gapczynski took first in the mile with a time of 5:06.22. For the girls Luetzow was first in the 400-meter run, 1:07.77 and Kortman was second in the 300-meter hurdles, 56.0.

The track teams travel to Inland Lakes today (Thursday) and are at Cheboygan on Tuesday.
