BCAM awards two honors to Posen basketball program

The Posen boys? basketball team recently received two distinguished awards from the Basketball Coaches? Association of Michigan (BCAM). The first is all-state honors for guard/forward Jordan Hincka. He finished sixth in the BCAM voting for Class D first team all-state.

Hincka averaged a team-high 26.3 points per game and holds the all-time career scoring record at 1,530 points and the single-season record of 579 points for the 2007-08 season. His career average ended at 16.3 points per game for the red and white. He is the only basketball player in school history to earn three straight team-MVP awards. He was the 2007-08 North Star League MVP and all-state honorable mention. He missed first team all-state by one vote. In addition, Hincka played in all of 94 of his possible games in his fours years of eligibility.

ades are quite impressive and well deserved,? said head coach Steve Hentkowski. ?Jordan worked so hard. What a great young man to have coached. He showed respect for all his coaches and his team. He will be missed. His parents should be extremely proud of him, because I am.? Hincka?s parents are Clarence and Beth Hincka. The other BCAM award Hentkowski and assistant coach Rich Stowe are proud of is the team?s free throw shooting percentage. They shot 68.6 percent from the line during the 07-08 campaign. That was good enough for 10th place in the Class D all-state standings. The Vikings made 291 of its 424 attempts.

?During the season, the team attempted more than 1,100 free throws in practice,? said Hentkowski. It was a team goal to improve on the previous season?s percentage of 54.6 percentage.
