Technology Advisory Board ordinance and bylaws need redrafting

by Angie Asam– Staff Writer

The Technology Advisory Board (TAB) ordinance, bylaws and mission came before the city council for approval at Tuesday?s meeting but after looking them over and discussing them have been sent back for redrafting before being approved. ?I have reviewed the ordinance and bylaws, and the ordinance as far as I can see is ready for first reading but the bylaws need some work,? said city attorney Mike Vogler prior to council?s discussion.

Council member Gary Nowak and mayor pro tem Deb Greene were upset with the wording of part of the ordinance pertaining to the city manager?s role in the TAB. Both did not want to see the city manager as a decision maker or part of the board, they just wanted him at meetings on an informational basis. A change in wording would fix that but council member Darrin Darga, who is the liaison to that board, had a few other issues with the ordinance pertaining to the number of voting members. After further discussion of the changes council members decided it would be best to have the ordinance and bylaws redrafted before proceeding with an approval.
