Wolverine awaits decision from MDEQ

As THE MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF Environmental Quality (DEQ) ponders whether to grant an air quality permit to Wolverine Power, the land for the proposed coal-fired power plant lies peacefully under an blanket of snow. The site, which s approximately in the center of the photo, is located on land owned by Carmeuse Lime and Stone in the Calcite Limestone Quarry just south of Rogers City.

The photo shows Business U.S. 23 as it cuts through the quarry with the westerly portion on the right side of the photo.
