Onaway alive, Posen, Rogers City girls out of basketball tournament

The basketball seasons ended for two county schools while one is still alive. The Onaway Cardinals took a 74-54 win over Atlanta Wednesday in Johannesburg while Rogers City and Posen both lost. The Cardinals were led by Haley O’Meara’s 25 points to advance to the finals Friday to face top-ranked Johannesburg who defeated the Posen Vikings. The Vikings trailed 22-9 to Joburg, who came into the tournament undefeated and as the number-one ranked team in Class D. Janice Ciarkowski’s seven points led all Posen’s scorers.
