?We are very happy to get the sweep over Cheboygan. Our hitting is improving daily, our pitching was very good and our defense is improving with each game. We will continue to work on the little fundamental things involved with softball and try to get better each day. Our girls work very hard and it shows with our play,? said coach Karl Grambau. LAST THURSDAY in Alcona the Hurons split with the home Tigers. The Hurons won game one 12-4 on a seven run second inning but dropped game two 3-2.

Darga started game two from the mound but gave up three runs in just under two innings. Schuiteman came in with the bases loaded in the second inning and shut down the Tigers. Rogers City managed only three hits in the game, a double by Schuiteman, a single by Grambau and a single by Tulgestke. ?We had a lot of chances in the second game but could not get the big hit when we needed it. Alcona had some nice defensive plays in the second game and we needed to swing at better pitches than we did. Overall our pitching was good for the first time out and our hitting will get better. Defensively we made some nice pays for the first games of the season. I am optimistic that we will continue to improve and get better with each game,? said coach Grambau.

The Hurons are at Gaylord today (Thursday) and will host the Hillman Tigers Friday beginning at 4:15 p.m. at Gilpin Memorial Field.
