Queen’s pageant is first event for county fair

The fair tent will be the site of the Presque Isle County Fair Queen?s Pageant set for Thursday, June 25 at 7 p.m. Seven contestants will vie for the title of Fair Queen, now held by Rachel Lewandowski, who will be a junior at Rogers City High School (RCHS) in the fall. Tricia Selke is pageant director for the event which kicks off the Presque Isle County Fair in Millersburg. Tickets for the event are available through the contestants, the fair committee with a limited number available at the door.

The contestants, in order of the numbers they drew, are profiled here. Contestant number one is Myranda Anglin who is 14 years old and a sophomore at Onaway High School. Her parents are Tony Anglin and John and Shelly Enos. She enjoys taking pictures, listening to music and having fun.

Paige Lewandowski is contestant number two. She is 15 years old and the sophomore at Posen High School. Her parents are Mark and Denise Lewandowski. Paige enjoys all outdoor activities and spending time with her family and friends. Contestant number three is Misty Curtis, the daughter of Todd and Lori Curtis of Rogers City. She is 16 years old and a junior at RCHS. She enjoys sitting in the sun and spending time with her friends and family.

Abbey Idalski is contestant number four. Her parents are Tom Idalski and Kathy Lijewski. She is 14 years old and a sophomore at RCHS. Babysitting is what she loves to do, especially in the summer. Contestant number five is Erika Kuznicki, the daughter of Irene and Jeff Kuznicki. She is sixteen years old and a junior at RCHS. She enjoys swimming and skating with her friends.

Ashley Mamp is contestant number six. She is the 15 year-old daughter of Cathy Brenner of Onaway and Jerry Mamp of Mi

llersburg and is a junior at Onaway High School. She enjoys going to the beach, swimming and spending time with her family and friends. Contestant number seven is Kalene Brenner of Millersburg. She is the 15 year-old daughter of Bryan and Janice Brenner of Tennessee and Renee Brenner of Millersburg. She is a sophomore at Onaway High School who plans to major in psychology in college. The fair begins Wednesday with exhibit registration from 4-7 p.m. The gates open Thursday at noon with animal registration running from 4-7 p.m. and the pie and ice cream social starting at 5 p.m. with the queen?s pageant at 7 p.m.

Friday at 11 a.m. is the small animal showmanship training with animal judging beginning at 2 p.m. and the large animal clinic at 3 p.m. Toni Wilson performs in the beverage tent beginning at 6 p.m. You must be 21 to enter the tent and identification will be required. Saturday?s activity list includes the heavy horse pull at noon with kid?s games starting at 1 p.m. and the mud bog at 3 p.m. Nashville Hyway Plus performs in the beverage tent. Sunday features the antique tractor pull at noon and viewing of exhibits until 5 p.m. A highlight of the fair is free amusement rides everyday and a fishpond on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
