Olree crowned Miss Onaway 2009

Nicolette Olree became Miss Onaway 2009 in a pageant filled with the glitz of Las Vegas. The evening began with an opening dance routine to Elvis Presley?s ?Viva Las Vegas? in blue feathery outfits. The Vegas theme continued with a picture show featuring the photos of Christopher Chagnon set to a Las Vegas theme by Kymberli Wregglesworth.

Olree, the daughter of Doug and Shelley Olree, will be a senior at Onaway High School in the fall. She won the congeniality award, as voted on by the contestants and the staff, and the evening gown, for her grace in the pageant, as voted on by the judges. FOR HER TALENT presentation, she performed ?Money, Money, Money? by ABBA. ?I was so nervous and wasn?t sure how I did. I was so happy and was not expecting this,? Olree said. ?After the talent (presentation) I said ?OK, we are all set, got the nerves out of the way? and we are good to go.?

Miranda Collins, daughter of Joe and SandyPat Collins took first runner-up. She won the talent award with an energetic and athletic dance to ?Jump?.

Stephanie Ellsworth won the photogenic award, based on judge?s evaluation of photos taken of the contestants by Chagnon. Timory Wilcox won the award for most tickets sold. Shaylee Sachs performed a comedy routine title

d ?You Tube Diva,? in the first talent presentation of the night.

Wregglesworth was the pageant director and served as master of ceremonies of the event. ?I thought it went fantastic. But it is mostly on the backs of the girls. They make the show. If they do a good job it is going to be a great show,? she said after the pageant. Wregglesworth had praise for her assistant director Chelsea Kent and her crew.

?I WOULD HAVE been happy with any of the girls taking home the crown because they are all wonderful young women,? Wregglesworth said. ?I think Nikki will do an excellent job as Miss Onaway.?

The new Miss Onaway, Nicolette Olree wins a $1,250 scholarship and assumes the title from Hailey Kimball, who won the title in 2008. The first runner-up receives a $500 scholarship while the photogenic and highest ticket award winners each earned $50.
