Onaway students to be featured on Michigan Out-of-Doors

The Onaway Schools Family Resource Center held its third annual ?Get Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs? program June 22-30 at the Ocqueoc Outdoor Center. Jenny Olsen of Michgan Out-of-Doors visited the camp on June 24 and taped the students.

The program drew 46 students and focused on angling skills, environmental quality, invasive species as well as drug prevention and life skills.

First-time program participants were given new fishing poles by the Hammond Bay Area Anglers Association while returning participants were given tackle boxes filled with necessary fishing equipment.

Not only were students able to participate in the program, learn many skills, get new fishing equipment, learn to make their own lures and have a great time; they will now be featured in the Michigan Out-of-Doors television show airing on August 6.
