A cooperative agreement to allow Posen High School students the opportunity to participate in the Rogers City High School wrestling program was approved unanimously at Monday?s Posen Consolidated School Board of Education meeting. Both districts will now await word from the Michigan High School Athletic Association for final approval. Members of the Rogers City Area Schools Board of Education gave the thumbs up to the proposal, July 13. It is only for the sport of wrestling. Agreements for the 2010 cross country and track seasons are still being discussed. The paperwork for track would need to be in by October 15. Posen doesn?t offer cross country or wrestling.

The athletic committee had a number of sports related issues to deal with at their July 22 meeting, including the hiring of a new athletic director. There are seven candidates to fill the vacancy left by Karsten. The committee also will decide on season pass prices for the next school year, with the increase of admission to varsity events now at $5, and discuss a request by the Posen Sports Boosters to consider a ?pay to ride? concept for athletes to relieve some of the burden of fundraising. A special fundraiser is currently planned for October to specifically raise money for bus transportation to sporting events.
