Undefeated Alcona invades Gilpin for clash with Hurons

Following a week off, the Huron varsity football team is ready to take on Lincoln-Alcona Friday at Gilpin Field. All home games have a 7 p.m. kickoff time. Alcona stopped a two-game winning streak for the Hurons last season, sending Rogers City into a four-game skid that ended with a 3-6 record. This time around, the Hurons have their sights on a win.

Alcona comes in with a 2-0 record after wins over winless Atlanta, 34-14 in week one, and a 35-28 win over AuGres last week. AuGres defeated Akron-Fairgrove 42-6 in week one after Akron lost 64-62 to Ann Arbor-Eastern Washtenaw Multicultural in a week one eight-man game. AA Multicultural (2-0) will play Posen later in the season.

Rogers City defeated Hillman 26-20 at home in the first week as senior quarterback Pat Quaine ran for two touchdowns and passed for two more in the win. Quaine suffered an injury in last year?s Alcona game which kept him out of the next two contests.
